On my way to see family one day last year, I was driving a route I rarely take through Crowborough. As I drew up to the outskirts of the town, I passed an old house just off the road; its border trees having been cleared away leaving it exposed. It was a curious building because it had been weathered an beaten for some time, but because of its more rural location, a bit more interesting than many run down urban dwellings.

As I found out later on, the house had been abandoned some 15 years before and was due to be demolished, contents and all in 3 days time. I was fortunate enough to be able to get in and around the house to get some of my favorite photographs of recent years, especially the piano and battery. I think that "EVER READY" was the name before "Energiser" came along and I remember the logo that they used to use, so this battery has been there for all that time and partially weathered on one side making it even more striking.

I had to go back a few days later as the shots of the piano first time round were not as good as they could've been, but I had to use some very long exposure times as it was so late in the day. The one used here was a 20 second exposure time, so it was a lot darker than it appears.
